Nicolas Pope
Dr. Pope is a postdoctoral research and software developer who is currently responsible for the Remote Presence and live 3D capture platform to be used in the FT-Lab space. He obtained his PhD. at the University of Warwick in the UK on a subject related to modelling with dependency as an alternative way to achieve end-user programming. After a brief stint in the industry working on embedded systems, he returned to academia to assist on an Erasmus+ education project. During that time he developed a live-coding web platform called Construit.
Following the Erasmus+ project, he moved to Turku to continue an academic career at UTU under Prof. Erkki Sutinen. His past experience with high-performance programming and graphics, as well as the more recent focus on education, led to him taking the challenge of prototyping a remote presence platform.
